Short answer: it depends on your own conversion rates: how many leads you reach, how many of those interview, and how many of those contract. Multiply those rates together and divide one hire by the result. The example below is illustrative only and is not a prediction or promise.
The formula
Leads per hire = 1 ÷ (contact rate × interview rate × hire rate)
- Contact rate: share of leads you actually speak with.
- Interview rate: share of contacts who attend an interview.
- Hire rate: share of interviews who contract with you.

In this example, 1 ÷ (0.40 × 0.25 × 0.20) = 50 leads per hire. If your contact rate rose to 50% with the same other rates, it would be 40 leads per hire. If it fell to 30%, it would be about 67.
